Product Updates

ENOSERV RTS update 4.3.6.0

ENOSERV released an update to the RTS program on March 17th, 2008. Individuals within your company can update the RTS program on their computers by one of two methods:

1. A User can open the RTS program, choose the Menu Item "Update -> Auto-Update RTS", then proceed with the directions given.

2. A User can sign in to the support area of enoserv.com, download the file RTSExes.zip, and extract these files into the existing RTS directory (Default is C:\ENOSERV\RTS). Existing files should be replaced when prompted.

This update of ENOSERV RTS involves modifications to various aspects of the program.

  • Routines have been added to the RTS FasData.mdr database. Two of the routines, the DGP and G60, require translation tables that are in the database with the routines. When using BackupMerge to copy these routines into your personal database, be sure to copy the translation tables as well. The following are the new routines mentioned:

    GE CEH-52A
    GE DGP
    GE GE-G60
    SEL SEL-121D
    SEL SEL-167-5
    SEL SEL-167
    SEL SEL-267
    SEL SEL-267D
    SEL SEL-751

These routines bring the total number to 466.

  • Our development team has listened to client concerns about keyed limitations within the RTS software. Users can now open the Routine Selection window in RTS without having a hardware key connected. While we want to provide our clients with convenience, we still also want to protect our licensed software product. Therefore if a User enters the program without a connected key, Library Routines can only be manipulated to a certain degree and test results cannot be saved. For complete operation of RTS, the hardware key will still have to be present.

  • Omicron is now shipping a test set named CMC-256 Plus. ENOSERV RTS has been modified and tested to recognize this new equipment.

  • A last minute change to the MPRT code in version 4.3.5.0 created a problem with timing tests.  This has been reported and resolved.  It is highly recommended that all MPRT users update to the newer executable file.

ENOSERV PowerBase update 5.0.4.0

The final touches are now being added to the long awaited PowerBase 5.0.4.0 update. The 5.0.4.0 update is a compilation of recent user-requested features and customizations, as well as bug fixes and process optimizations.

Some of the highlights of this release include:

  • Expansion of the PowerBase Log table, to assist external applications working with the PowerBase database.

  • Several new features for manage importing of relay test results from RTS.

  • Several updates to the way you can sort and arrange the columns when using grid views.

  • New options are available for reports, including a nameplate only report and reports listing associated files.

  • Improvements have been made to the Settings Form creation interface, making creating new forms and editing existing ones easier.

  • The file attachment feature has been expanded to the CT form.

The 5.0.4.0 release is due out the first part of April and will include an update package, as well as an updated install and documentation. Also be on the lookout for PowerBase Tools. PowerBase Tools is a lightweight, but powerful application designed to assist users to clean, manage and perform common maintenance functions on the PowerBase database without in-depth knowledge of databases or scripting languages. ENOSERV Builds Two Technology Classrooms

ENOSERV will soon be unveiling two high-tech classrooms complete with hands-on equipment. The classrooms will be located in ENOSERV's main building, and will be equipped with relays, test sets, and the best audio/visual equipment for presenters. Also, a full featured kitchen is nearby where meals will be prepared by a local chef during training sessions. The ENOSERV remodel will help enhance the training process and allow more quality student/instructor interaction.

"The arrangement of the new classrooms, along with the added technology will further enhance the learning process, which is far more interesting than a standard classroom lecture," says Kathy Smith, a software trainer for ENOSERV. "Students get a better chance to really know our software and use it as they would in the field," she continues.

The renovation of ENOSERV's two new classrooms serves as a pilot project that will help build the ENOSERV Institute. The ENOSERV Institute specializes in practical, hands-on relay training. Only ENOSERV presents training on any type of test set with numerous electromechanical and digital relay types. The ENOSERV Institute offers any of the following or we can customize training to your needs:

Microprocessor-Based Relay Testing, Generation or Transmission
Protective Relay Maintenance, Advanced
Protective Relay Maintenance, Basic

New Support Procedures

ENOSERV is implementing a new support procedure for RTS and PowerBase. When you call, you'll be speaking with one main support contact, Kristina. For all basic questions, she'll most likely be able to document your call and help you on the spot. If it's something that needs to be reviewed or bench tested by a technician or if it is related to development, she will prepare a help ticket, which will then be submitted to the correct department/individual and she will track the ticket to resolution.

What does all this mean to you? Ultimately it means better service as all reported issues will be formally documented and tracked to ensure that you receive a timely response. We ask that you, the user, be prepared to provide the following information:

    1. Your name
    2. Your company's name
    3. The relay routine with which you are working
    4. Answer this question: Is the routine being used straight from the FasData database or is it a routine that has been customized/developed by your company?
    5. The test set you are utilizing
    6. The RTS version with which you are working (This can be found in the blue bar at the top of the main RTS screen or by selecting Help/About from the main menu)
    7. Your key Serial Number (This can be found on the label on your key/key tag or in the blue bar at the top of the main RTS screen)
    8. The Windows operating system you are using

Providing this information is key to problem resolution. As always, you will also have the option of submitting your requests online at www.enoserv.com. Log-in using the Email and Password created when you registered for support then navigate to Support / Contact Support / Submit Support Ticket. Emails will be directed to the correct problem solver and tracked to resolution. This new tracking method will also allow you to view past issues and resolutions by accessing View Your Tickets under the Support Links section of the Support site. Therefore if you encounter a problem again that you previously reported, you'll be able to use this as a resource for answers.
